Brentford are keen on one of the lower leagues' brightest talents - Southend Daniel Bentley - a year after QPR lost out in getting the talented keeper.

It seems Bournemouth, Glasgow Rangers and Burnley are also interested in the PFA honoured 22-year-old, who although out of contract at Roots Hall, would still command a fee under league rules.

Here's a few reasons for Bees to buzz with anticipation ahead of next season.

Bentley wants to go somewhere where he plays regularly

David Button might have something to say about that at Griffin Park, but Bentley will not sign for a club where he takes a backward step and plants himself on the subs bench.

Burnley have Tom Heaton

Regards the bit above and Bentley on the bench, he most certainly will be at Turf Moor unless something happens to Heaton.

It's one thing to believe in yourself, but trying to unseat the man who is awaiting his chance in France with the England Euro 2016 squad is quite another.

Crunch! Burnley's Tom Heaton meets QPR's Charlie Austin

Burnley and Glasgow Rangers are thousands of miles away.

OK, not quite that far. But Bentley is a homegrown lad from Basildon, and a train ride to west London and Brentford's Osterley training ground is a comfortable two hours tops.

It would mean Dan the Man could keep close to his Essex friends and family rather than being uprooted to strange Pict-like environs or deepest Lancashire.

Ever tried to get to Turf Moor on matchday? You know what we mean then.

The Bournemouth question

The Cherries, admittedly, are probably best placed of the other clubs to offer Bentley what he wants: a long lucrative deal and plenty more money.

And with no disrespect to Artur Boric and Adam Federici, they're not in the Heaton class. That said, they have two and one years left on their Bournemouth contracts.

Sell or release either, and Bentley might sit up and take notice. But third choice at Eddie Howe's Premier League minnows? No chance.

The David Button question

Bentley would prefer to waltz into a team where he's the nailed on number one. Button was a prolific performer for Bees last term, but if he were to reject current terms, it leaves League Two's 2015 player of the year an open door.
