Brentford are closing in on the signing of Rochdale hotshot Scott Hogan.

The 22-year-old smashed 19 goals in 40 games last season as Dale won promotion to League One.

Hogan's form hasn't gone unnoticed, with Leeds and Wolves among the clubs to have expressed an interest in the Salford-born striker.

The former Hyde frontman missed last night's friendly with old club Halifax to fuel speculation of a move down south.

And Brentford are now understood to be close to completing a move for Hogan, who has just 12 months remaining on his contract at Spotland.

Meanwhile, the Bees are having a look at former Watford winger Tommy Smith, who was released by Cardiff at the end of the season.
