Brentford chief executive Mark Devlin has told supporters new arrivals will be coming into Griffin Park this summer and says transfer deals were in the pipeline long before the appointment of Marinus Dijkhuizen.

Dijkhuizen was revealed as the club's new head coach on Monday and head up the playing department while co-directors of football Rasmus Ankersen and Phil Giles will take the lead on recruitment of fresh talent.

Bringing in a replacement for Tottenham loanee Alex Pritchard, who was the driving force behind the club's strong performances at the end of last season and named in the Championship and named in the team of the season, is essential during the close season.

Devlin has confirmed the club is active in the market already and plans are underway to bolster the squad which wowed the rest of the Championship en-route to making the play-off semi-finals last term.

Replacement needed: Alex Pritchard was a key player last term

He told Sky Sports: “There are plenty of players that have been looked at and are being looked at. We want to add quality to the squad - that is a process that has been going on for a little while.

“Now that Marinus is on board he can have a little more involvement in that but we have obviously had to start that process ahead of recruiting him.

“We would expect to add to the squad, we have got a very talented squad from last year and some of the players had to go back to parent clubs like Alex Pritchard."

Meanwhile, Brentford’s pre-season schedule is starting to emerge with the news that the Bees will spend 10 days in Portugal this summer and the club is set to face Norwich, Luton and Stoke City in friendly fixtures.
