Dean Smith has rubbished rumours that suggested that West Ham had made a bid for Jota as well as from Sunderland for Ryan Woods.

Reports elsewhere had suggested the Hammers were set to sign Brentford's wing wizard, who has also interested a host of Premier League clubs.

However, Smith rubbished those and insisted that nothing had changed since Jota made his first appearance of pre-season against Oxford on Wednesday night.

When asked by BBC London he could confirm or deny that the Spaniard was set to travel along the District Line, Smith replied: “I can deny it because we haven't had a bid at all.”

Woods has also been linked with a move to recently relegated Sunderland and the Bees head coach was as equally dismissive about Simon Grayson's Black Cats making a move for the midfielder.

He added to GetWestLondon: “We've had no offer from them so I'd put them back where they were as rumours.”
