Brentford are looking to allow goalkeeper Jack Bonham to go out on loan, Dean Smith has confirmed.
Carlisle are understood to be leading the chase for the young stopper, who is likely to be behind Dan Bentley and Luke Daniels in the pecking order at Griffin Park.
The Bees know that the former Watford man needs regular football in order to improve after featuring just twice last season in all competitions.
Smith said: “We can't guarantee him a spot in the Championship at the moment just as we can't guarantee Dan Bentley or Luke Daniels.
“We'll try and get him games somewhere. We'll try and find a club that can suit us and Jack and he can go and start fulfilling his potential by going to play games.”
Bonham has had a difficult career to date after either coming on in bizarre circumstances, such as Watford's game with Leeds or playing behind a much changed Brentford defence.
When he has played with what many would consider a first choice side in normal circumstances, such as against Brighton in the FA Cup in 2015 and Barnsley on Easter Monday last season, Bonham has impressed.
