Burnley have agreed a deal to sign Brentford’s wantaway defender James Tarkowski.

The two clubs have finally agreed a fee for the 23-year-old after the player refused to take to the field against the Claret s on January 15.

He has not featured for the Bees since and was disciplined by the club.

Tarkowski penned an open letter to the fans explaining he wanted to head back north to take care of his ill mother.

And it appears that wish has been granted as he is due to undergo a medical at Turf Moor this morning.

Personal terms will not be a stumbling block given the centre-half is keen to move on.

Brentford boss Dean Smith said recently “We'll always have a plan if players do go but I don't envisage James leaving.

"As I said before it all started, nobody has got near his valuation and I don't see it happening in the foreseeable future.”

Should Tarkowski complete his move to Burnley, the Bees are expected to go in for Gillingham star John Egan in a late swoop.
