Brentford's hopes of signing striker Conor McAleny have been dashed after he committed his future to Everton.

Bees boss Mark Warburton is still in the marker for two more players as he puts the finishing touches to his squad.

A forward is top of his shopping list, with McAleny, whose spell in TW8 was cut short last season due to a broken leg, among those on his radar.

However, the Griffin Park chief will have to look elsewhere after the forward signed a new three-year-deal with the Premier League club.

"He [Roberto Martinez] told me I was going to be in his plans and that was a big part of why I have signed," said McAleny.

“Hearing that from the manager has definitely given me a boost and confidence for when I go back in with the lads.

"He wants to give young lads a go and that's always going to be an incentive."
