Mark Warburton wants to bolster his squad with two new signings in January to boost Brentford's promotion push.

The Bees boss has made sorting out the futures of loanees George Saville, Kadeem Harris and Marcello Trotta his number one priority, and is already in negotiations to try and keep the trio at Griffin Park for the rest of the campaign.

With defender Ben Nugent likely to return to Cardiff City after failing to make an impact, bringing in cover at centre-back is likely to be top of Warburton’s wishlist.

He said: “It’s a case of looking at what we need and making one or two tweaks to the squad.

“We have to ensure we have appropriate cover in the right positions because if you have injuries or suspensions you don’t want to be left light.

“It will all depend on what happens with the players we have on loan at the moment, but I’m looking at bringing in a couple of new faces.

“Of course, you would like to get the business done early, but it’s like Christmas shopping. You think you have it all done and then you rush out at the last minute because something else becomes available.”
