Brentford have admitted defeat in their bid to re-sign Cardiff City winger Kadeem Harris.

The 20-year-old scored twice in 11 games during a spell with the Bees earlier this season, only for his stint at Griffin Park to be cut short after tearing his hamstring.

Harris was due to return to TW8 earlier this month before he suffered an ankle injury in training that will keep him out for another three weeks.

Brentford were considering pressing ahead with plans to sign the Londoner if he made good progress, but with Harris nowhere near a return, the Bees may look elsewhere for reinforcements.

However, midfielder Sam Saunders is aiming to be back in action by next month following a niggling knee problem.
