Christian Atsu admits he does not know what his Chelsea future holds after signing for Everton on loan.

The 22-year-old wide-man will spend the season at Goodison Park after putting pen to paper on a deal late last night.

Chelsea signed Atsu from Porto last summer on a five-year deal but immediately sent him out on loan to Dutch side Vitesse.

And the Ghana winger will spend another campaign away from Stamford Bridge with Everton.

Atsu said: “I can't tell you the future.

"I don't know how long it will take to get back to Chelsea but right now I am really focused on Everton and at the end of the season we will see.”

“Looking at the players Chelsea have, my game time would be not much. So Everton is a really good club and I am here to work hard and help the team.

Flying winger Atsu, who played for his country at this summer's World Cup, thinks Everton will suit his style of play. He said he had 'possibilities' to sign for other clubs but wanted to join the Blues.

He said: "I am very happy and I am proud to be an Everton player. Since I came here I have been happy with the coach and also with the fans on Twitter. It's a great moment."

"This is a really good move for me because Everton play good football, they are a hard working team and they also have a good coach with fantastic fans. I am really happy."

“Roberto (Martinez) played an important role in me coming here. But I also made the decision to come here because they are a good club.

“I want to help the team, enjoy myself and play football.”

Atsu is the second Blues player to head to Goodison Park this summer after striker Romelu Lukaku joined on a permanent deal.
