Neal Ardley says AFC Wimbledon have made Matt Tubbs an incredible offer to join the club permanently and expects the striker to make a decision in a matter of days.

Tubbs is at Kingsmeadow on a season-long loan deal from AFC Bournemouth but has a January break clause in the terms of the agreement with the Cherries.

Portsmouth are among a list of interest parties looking to sign the forward this winter and Wimbledon have reacted by tempting Tubbs with a lucrative contract.

Offer: Matt Tubbs has been handed a lucrative contract offer by the Dons

Ardley admits Monday night’s FA Cup tie with Liverpool could be Tubbs’ last appearance in a Dons shirt if he decides his future lies elsewhere but hopes the player will stay.

“We’ve offered Matt Tubbs what, for us, is an incredible contract,” Ardley said.

“We’ve done everything in our powers to keep him. Matt’s got a decision to make. He could stay on the current loan deal he’s on now, but we’ve offered him the option of a permanent move if he wanted to leave Bournemouth.

Firing on all cylinders: Matt Tubbs

“There are other clubs chasing him but when you’ve scored 15 goals that’s going to happen. We’re safe in the knowledge that myself and the board have tried really hard to keep him and Matt knows we want him.

“He’ll make his decision in the next few days. The Liverpool game is his focus but I would think after that he will make a decision about his future. He won’t want it to drag through January.”

Bournemouth manager Eddie Howe this week confirmed Tubbs remained outside of his plans for the Cherries squad and has left the decision on his next move up to the player himself.
