Ryan Clarke has today terminated his contract with AFC Wimbledon by mutual consent and will join another club.

The goalkeeper made nine appearances in all competitions and a series of high-profile gaffes led to him being dropped and replaced with James Shea.

Clarke was unable to settle in west London and the decision has been taken to allow him to leave the club.

Manager Neal Ardley said: “After lengthy conversations with Ryan about his failure to settle at the club, we have reluctantly agreed to let him move on.

“Ryan is a good guy and a family man who wanted to do really well for Wimbledon, but he felt for personal reasons that his future needed to be at another club."

James Shea and Joe McDonnell will be given the opportunity to fight for the place as first-team goalkeeper with the former impressing between the sticks in the 2-1 win at Charlton on Saturday.
