Blackburn Rovers 2-0 QPR
Rangers wore their Dennis the Menace away shirts - but looked more like The Softies as they suffered a second defeat in four days.
There were also two Keanes on the pitch but only one finished happy – and it wasn’t the QPR version.
Will Keane got an early chance but took a touch too much and ended up only kicking the ball out of keeper Paul Robinson’s hands and conceding a free-kick.
The Manchester United loanee was sacrificed past the hour, but at least he came closest to hit the post from inside the box.
Twin brother Michael had the smile on his face that leaves Rovers an outside chance of making the play-offs.
QPR are already marooned there, and a tired team demanding changes from Saturday’s defeat at Bournemouth, knows it.
Luke Young got a first start in two years to shore up the defence with Clint Hill missing out, but it was only nine minutes when Rudy Gestede spun on a sixpence to fire all along the ground from 20 yards and give Green no chance.
Richard Dunne did just enough to thwart Jordan Rhodes as the Blackburn hitman shaped to shoot, but as Rovers started to get a grip,
Danny Simpson earned the night’s only yellow card when he took out Craig Conway charging down the left.
It was 31 minutes before Ravel Morrison and Yossi Benayoun got shots away for Rangers - and the second cleared the bar by a margin in a half where that missing cutting edge was all too clear.
Rangers got the worst possible start in the second half.
Tommy Spurr drove forward to cut in from the left after 49 minutes and was as surprised as anyone to see his shot squirm under Green for 2-0.
The keeper was left with egg on his face, but a fair bit of it sprayed over a dallying defence who allowed the left-back to get that far.
Rovers continued to press the buttons although Will Keane’s drive against the frame raised a faint hope of a comeback. Dunne can hold his head high with a fine performance at the back, but Gestede’s header, that should have found the target six yards out from a corner, reminded everyone who was in charge. Luke Varney also blew another chance to increase the lead.
