Danny Simpson was QPR captain for the day at Leicester - but the defender admitted his side failed to take advantage of the few chances they had.
Rangers lost 1-0 to the Foxes, with David Nugent hitting the only goal of the game on 68 minutes.
Boss Harry Redknapp made six changes from the team that beat Nottingham Forest last week, with Niko Kranjcar and Modibo Maiga coming closest.
Just as disappointing was the red card shown to Benoit Assou-Ekotto late in the second half, but Simpson paid tribute to the champions elect.
He said: “I thought we had some good chances but credit to Leicester they deserve to go up. Let’s concentrate on our remaining games then the play-offs.
“It was an honour to be captain today, I felt very proud to lead the boys out - just gutted to have lost the game.”
