Mark Warburton insists it's not time to reach for the panic button, despite two defeats in five days with seven goals conceded and none scored.

While Brentford were unfortunate to lose 3-0 to Norwich on Tuesday night after being on top for long spells, there could be no such comforts drawn from today's 4-0 mauling at Middlesbrough.

But Bees boss Warburton believes his side have already shown enough this season to prove they are more than capable of competing at this level.

He said: “There was no bad luck today, the best team won. I've got no complaints about the result, but we now have to react to it.

No way back: Brentford heads go down as Grant Leadbitter celebrates his opener

“For the first half hour it was an even match, but we gave the ball away cheaply and didn't test test the keeper, and then they broke the deadlock with a great strike.

“We didn't lack the endeavour or work rate, just quality on the ball. We gave it away in key areas, and we will have to learn from that.

“It about a group, not individuals. They are all disappointed with the result. They weren't good enough, and they know that. It's hurt them.

“But we've got a quality squad, and it's not about panicking. We showed against Brighton and Bournemouth that we can play good football against good sides, and we showed against Blackpool that we can cope with the physical presence too.”
