MIDWEEK FOOTBALL

An own goal hastened Uxbridge on their way to a fourth successive defeat in Southern League Division One South and West as they crashed 3-1 away to Beaconsfield SYCOB.

Dave Lawrence saw an early effort beaten away but in the 14th minute he sliced Stuart Swift's free kick past his own keeper to hand Beaconsfield the lead and seven minute minutes later Terry O'Connor broke and Bradley Bubb fired the hosts 2-0 in front.

The game was then delayed by 45 minutes while a replacement was found for a hamstrung linesman and just before half-time Kevin Warner gave Uxbridge a lifeline when he netted from close range.

After the break Bubb squandered an excellent chance for SYCOB and Warner did likewise for the Reds from Lawrence's free kick, while David Warner hit the top of the bar and then raced clear but could not lift the ball over Nick Hart, before the hosts grabbed a decisive third goal.

Swift netted from distance to wrap up the points and Matt Burton ended the game in the firing line as the Rams rained down long range shots on his goal.

The Middlesex Senior Cup tie between Harefield United and AFC Hayes and the Middlesex Charity Cup clash between Northwood and North Greenford United were both postponed due to waterlogged pitches.
