Calor Gas Division One Central

Dunstable Town 3

Northwood 2

Northwood twice led league leaders Dunstable Town on Saturday and still came away with nothing on a frustrating afternoon for Mark Burgess’ side.

Town will remain top of the Calor Gas Division One Central on Christmas Day after this result but it was far from a routine three points as the Woods showed how far they’ve come this season.

And it was a far from full-strength Northwood side that took to the field at Creasey Park, with the injury hit side bringing in former Wealdstone man Jack Pattison for the match.

Burgess also handed debuts to reserve players Tommy Walsh and Tom Pegrum, while putting two more untested young guns on the bench to make up the numbers.

Prolific striker Niko Muir, so often the hero this season, fired the visitors into the lead with a penalty before Dunstable equalised from another spot-kick at the other end.

Steve Brown headed the Woods back in front, although the lead lasted just two minutes as the table-toppers were on level terms again before half-time.

Tired legs played a part in the second-half as Town got the winner and added another three points to their tally.
