Brentford 0-3 Norwich City

Brentford's unbeaten run came to an end as they suffered a heavy home defeat to Norwich.

Cameron Jerome's double sent the Canaries top of the table after Alexander Tettey had given Neil Adams’s side the lead midway through the second half.

However, the Bees will feel hard done by after being a denied a stonewall penalty while trailing 1-0 when Alex Pritchard was scythed down in the box by Jos Hooiveld.

Brentford matched their opponents for long spells and threatened early on when Moses Odubajo broke down the right, but Pritchard’s header failed to trouble John Ruddy.

The hosts had a scare at the other end when former Bee Michael Turner glanced Nathan Redmond’s delivery goalwards, only for Odubajo to scramble the ball away.

Mark Warburton’s men began to dominate; Alan McCormack had a shot blocked, then Stuart Dallas fired just over from 25 yards.

Andre Gray was inches away from giving Brentford the lead when he controlled another Odubajo cross before his well-struck drive was deflected wide.

Unhappy: Brentford manager Mark Warburton

The former Luton frontman was in the thick of things again moments later, with only a last-ditch block by Hooiveld stopping him from scoring.

Ruddy came to Norwich’s rescue when he dived full-stretch to keep out a McCormack blockbuster, while the Canaries keeper thwarted Pritchard from close range on the stroke of half-time.

The visitors came out firing after the restart and should have taken the lead when Jerome robbed Harlee Dean of possession, but Lewis Grabban and Bradley Johnson both fluffed their lines.

Norwich continued to crank up the pressure; David Button did well to hold Redmond’s drive, while Wes Hoolahan dragged an effort just wide.

Opener: Alexander Tettey scores the first goal for Norwich

Brentford hit back and Ruddy had to get down low to keep out Gray’s shot, while the England man turned Judge’s effort around the post.

However, all Brentford’s hard work was undone when they handed Norwich the lead on 68 minutes.

James Tarkowski’s poor pass was intercepted by Jerome. He played in Hoolahan, who laid the ball on a plate for Tettey to slot under Button.

Brentford were denied a spot-kick when Hooiveld chopped down Pritchard in the box, and that decision proved crucial as the Canaries raced up the other end to double their lead.

Frustrated: Alan McCormack misses a chance at goal

Steven Whittaker sent over a teasing cross from the right, and Jerome ghosted in to head home off the left-hand post from six yards.

The former Stoke frontman wrapped up victory late on when he smashed an unstoppable effort past Button from 25 yards.
