CALOR GAS LEAGUE DIVISION ONE CENTRAL

Slough Town 1

Uxbridge 2

Matt Woods came to the rescue with an injury-time winner after it looked as though Uxbridge had thrown away the points at Slough Town.

The Reds striker popped up with the winner in the 93rd minute, just seconds after Tony Mendy had struck a dramatic equaliser for the hosts.

Tony Choules’ side took the lead midway through the first half when Alfie Barratt’s deep cross was met by Craig Tomkins and his header beat Jake Somerville in the Rebels goal.

Mark Dennison could have extended the Uxbridge lead before the break, however his shot inadvertently rebounded off Woods and sailed to safety.

Mendy had been looking dangerous throughout and was foiled by a goal-line clearance from Kevin Warner as Slough turned up the heat in the second period.

He was rewarded for his persistence in stoppage time as he rose to meet Warren Harris’ corner and looked to have earned a point for the hosts.

But Woods had other ideas, leading a breakaway from the restart and getting on the end of a Danny Julienne centre to secure the points at the death.

Meanwhile, Uxbridge Reserves lost 3-0 at home to Woking in the Suburban League Cup.
