Doubles for Tjaronn Chery and Charlie Austin saw QPR to an eventful win over Rotherham.

Summer signing Chery struck either side of the break before the man whose boots he might have to fill at Loftus Road Austin made it 3-0.

Rotherham who had posed little threat since a glaring miss by Matt Derbyshire while the game was goalless caused some anxiety with late goals from Jonson Clarke-Harris and Tom Thorpe, but Astin's penalty for a foul on Sebastian Polter sealed the points.

Chery forced a fine stop from Kelle Roos early on with Nedum Onuoha shinning over from the resulting corner.

Derbyshire poked wide from six yards at the other end when he should have scored and Chery showed him how to finish with a curler three minutes from the break.

The diminutive frontman struck again on 49 minutes firing home Massimo Luongo's cross from the by-line

And when Roos let Austin's shot squirm through his legs just after the hour it looked all over

However, Clarke-Harris classy effort and Thorpe's close range finish had Rangers sweating as they made it 3-2 with two minutes left.

But Austin sent the fans home happy as he sent Roos the wrong way from the spot in the last minute.
