Brentford 2-2 Bolton

James Tarkowski had a day to forget as two errors cost Brentford the chance of victory against Bolton, all but ending their play-off hopes after a week that saw them finish off with two points instead of the nine their play could have merited.

The Bees had led through Alex Pritchard, finishing off a fine counter-attacking move the defender lost the ball in midfield, with the Trotters moving in to finish through Adam Le Fondre.

Jonathan Douglas restored the lead before half time with a looping header that caught Adam Bogdan by surprise.

But Tarkowski's short back pass led to goalkeeper David Button being intercepted by Mark Davies, who had the easiest of tap ins to level again.

Brentford had made a strong start and Alan Judge forced Adam Bogdan into a save from a 25-yard free kick.

Bolton, though, should have taken the lead as Emile Heskey beat the offside trap to go through on goal against Button but, inexplicably fired his shot wide.

The visitors continued to press forward and were caught on the counter with Andre Gray racing clear of his man before finding Judge. The Irishman played in Pritchard, who was in acres of space and made no mistake from 12 yards.

Giles Coke forced David Button into a fantastic save soon after but the goalkeeper was beaten as Tarkowski lost the ball in the middle of the park. Bolton countered and Heskey played Le Fondre in to force an equaliser.

Brentford hit back and Gray struck the post after a trademark spin and run before the ball was crossed in for Douglas to head home.

The Bees controlled the second half but lacked the penetration and were suitably punished when Tarkowski sold Button short and the goalkeeper was tackled by Davies who slotted the ball into an empty net.

Bolton were content with a point and started to slow the game down, while Stuart Dallas was booked for diving in the penalty area.
