Ade Azeez turned super-sub to seal AFC Wimbledon's first home win of the season at the expense of Exeter.

Azeez, who scored in the corresponding fixture last season, rose from the bench with a quarter of an hour of what had been a frustrating afternoon to go and struck just seven minutes later with a smart finish

Victory was just about deserved by Neal Ardley's side who had made most of the running, but had looked short of fire-power until Azeez's decisive intervention.

Dons started brightly with Andy Barcham's eighth minute shot trickling agonizingly wide after deflecting off Troy Brown.

Adebayo Akinfenwa then saw a header cleared off the line before George Francomb made the breakthrough on 28 minutes with a smart turn and shot after Tom Elliott flicked on Jon Meades' long throw.

The lead though lasted just four minutes before Ryan Harley showed great skill to pull down a long ball and fire across James Shea to the far corner.

Barry Fuller then headed passed his own keeper, but the effort was ruled out for offside and Harley wasted a glorious chance to put the Grecians ahead, scuffing wide of an open goal after confusion between Shea and his defenders.

The second half saw Dons in the ascendancy, but Barcham fired over and Karleigh Osborne hit another effort wide as frustrations grew.

However, the first home win was sealed when fellow substitute Lyle Taylor was too strong for his defender and when he crossed to the far post Azeez arrived on cue to snatch victory.
