Fulham 3-0 Charlton
Scott Parker silenced the Charlton boo-boys as Fulham claimed bragging rights in the London derby at Craven Cottage.
Addicks fans have never forgiven the midfielder for quitting the Valley for Chelsea a decade ago, but Parker set the hosts on their way to a fifth win in seven games under caretaker Kit Symons.
The Cottagers made five changes from the side that drew at Rotherham on Tuesday, reverting back to the team that beat Norwich last weekend.
Parker opened the scoring after six minutes. The skipper exchanged passes with Ross McCormack before scrambling the ball in from close range off the underside of the bar.
The Cottagers doubled their lead shortly after. Stephen Henderson could only parry McCormack’s thumping effort, and Hugo Rodallega pounced on the loose ball to slot home.
Tim Hoogland almost added a third on the half-hour mark, but his header from a McCormack free-kick drifted just wide.
Charlton came back into it as the half wore on but they failed to test Marcus Bettinelli in the Fulham goal.
Bettinelli was called into action at the beginning of the second period when he dived low to his left to turn away George Tucudean’s header.
Hoogland had the ball in the Charlton net 10 minutes after the break, but his joy was short-lived after being flagged offside.
Fulham came under some brief pressure, but the hosts weathered the storm as Rodallega wrapped up victory late on when he slotted past Henderson.
