Charlie Austin was QPR’s hero once again as his double helped his side come from 2-0 down to draw with Brighton.

Goals from Dale Stephens and Rajiv Van La Parra put the Seagulls ahead, but Austin’s double salvaged a point for the home side in a fantastic game at Loftus Road in front of the Sky cameras.

In a positive first half for Rangers, Matty Phillips had the best chance as his half-volley was cleared off the line by Inigo Calderon with Stockdale seemingly beaten.

The home side were also controversially denied a penalty after a Charlie Austin shot appeared to be handled by Gordon Greer.

For all of QPR’s good play, it was Brighton who took the lead in emphatic style after the restart through a wonderful Stephens overhead kick that nonetheless looked as if the Albion player had pushed Raniere on his way to scoring.

The Seagulls doubled their lead shortly after as a long-range Rajiv Van La Parra effort was deflected by Grant Hall and squirmed under the body of Rob Green into the net.

Undeterred, QPR maintained their pressing game and pulled one back through Austin just after the hour.

Brighton’s Lewis Dunk was sent off with ten minutes to go after a dangerous tackle on Alejandro Faurlin.

And just before the 90th minute, Austin got his second of the game with a close range header.

Phillips was a coat of varnish away with a hammer shot that grazed the outside of the post.

And while the draw sees Brighton extend their record unbeaten start to the Championship season to 21 games, Rs boss Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink will be delighted with his side's performance.
