Nuneaton Town 0-2 Barnet

Barnet midfielder Curtis Weston believes his side were well worth their 2-0 win over Nuneaton Town on Saturday.

The Bees vice captain has been impressed with new striker Charlie MacDonald this term and the former Brentford frontman notched twice in this win.

He might have had a hat-trick but missed a penalty to deny him a third goal.

Despite that blot on the Barnet copybook, Weston was delighted with the result after putting last week’s disappointment against Lincoln City firmly to bed.

“It was a good three points,” Weston said.

“It was quite a tough game, especially in the last twenty to twenty five minutes when they put the pressure on us but we withstood it well and rode it out and got a good result.

“It was important for us to get out of the traps early. The warm-up was good, it was nice and sharp and we got straight into it and got a straight start.

“They were a big strong team but I think we defended well. We switched off maybe once or twice but throughout the game I thought that we were the much better team and dominated.

“After we got to two nil we sat back a little bit more and just tried to control it and pop it around a bit. We’ve missed a penalty as well which was unlucky on Chaz, but if that goes in to make it 3-0 then we are cruising even more but it was comfortable in the end I think.”

The result pushed Barnet back up to fourth place in the Conference standings.
