Barnet 3-1 Aldershot Town

Paul Fairclough made a losing start to his interim spell in charge at Barnet as thee Bees lost to Aldershot Town in the first game after the Edgar Davids era, reports Josh Ilan

Jordan Roberts flukily put the visitors early on before a super strike by Mauro Vilhete levelled the score going into the interval. However, it was the visitors who went onto win the game with Bradley Bubb and Martin Rowlands scoring for them early on the second-half.

There were three changes to the side which lost to Chester in Davids' last game. Elliott Johnson, Kieron Cadogan and Luisma Villa came out of the side, with them being replaced by the trio of Jordan Brown, Vilhete and Luke Gambin.

It only took two minutes for Aldershot to open the scoring, although it was an incredibly fortuitous effort. The ball was passed to Shots winger Roberts on the right-hand side, whose cross into the box somehow looped into the corner of the goal.

Barnet drew level right on the stroke of half-time. Having found himself an inch of space outside the box, Vilhete, who was given his first-team debut by Fairclough for the club in 2010, unleashed a sensational strike into the roof of the net.

It only took the visitors four minutes to regain the lead. An incisive ball over the top found the dangerous Bubb, who cut inside into the box before slotting his low effort beyond Nick Jupp.

Minutes later and Aldershot extended their lead, putting a Barnet out of sight. Veteran midfielder Rowlands utilised the space outside the box to smash a piledriver into the right-hand corner of the goal.

It almost became even worse for Fairclough's side on 69 minutes as Roberts came close to doubling his goal tally for the night, with his free-kick deflecting off the Barnet wall onto the top of the net.

With minutes left of the game to play, Jake Hyde had two brilliant efforts denied by Aldershot stopper Glenn Morris.

The first attempt came after a fantastic cross in from the overlapping Andy Yiadom, with Morris throwing himself at Hyde to deny the striker his 10th goal of the season. This was shortly followed by Morris brilliantly finger-tipping the striker's acrobatic volley over the bar.

BEES: Jupp; Yiadom, Saville (Acheampong), Stephens, Brown (Nurse); Vilhete, Byrne, Weston, Gambin (Crawford); Marsh-Brown; Hyde.
