A lack of clinical finishing cost newly promoted Barnet as they fell to an opening day defeat at Leyton Orient.

Facing up to a side who were two divisions above them last season, the Bees were always going to be facing a tough opponent. But some less than convincing finishing ultimate left the Bees pointless from their encounter at the Matchroom Stadium.

Andy Yiadom created a great opportunity in the opening exchanges as he weaved his way through the hosts' defence.

A last ditch tackle prevented him from scoring, before a wonderfully powerful run from John Akinde set up a great chance for Michael Gash to open the scoring from the penalty spot. But after slashing wide, in a moment which summed up the Bees' first half, Barnet were made to pay.

A great run and cross found its way to Jay Simpson who smashed home from close range, despite goalkeeper Graham Stack getting a strong hand on the ball.

And moments later the game was beyond the visitors, when a craftily whipped in cross wasn't cleared, and fell to Paul McCallum - who made no mistake as he thumped home.
