Bishop's Stortford 0 Hayes & Yeading United 0

Patrick Cox had an impressive debut as Hayes & Yeading United finally put their losing streak to an end last night.

Striker Cox, who was a scholar at Reading under former United manager Nas Bashir, was only brought in on the day of the game from Fleet Town.

However, that didn't stop him making an instant impression with a spirited display up front, despite not scoring, in a goalless draw at Bishop's Stortford.

The most important thing for United, however, as not making it 10 defeats in a row, having lost their previous nine, a run which has seen them drop to within a point of the Conference South drop zone.

Skipper Dean Inman put in a real captain's performance at the back alongside Ben Gerring to keep the hosts out and ensure a crucial point for United ahead of Saturday's visit from Concorde Rangers.
