Fulham closed the gap on their play-off rivals as Stefan Johansen and Scott Malone both scored in the 2-0 win at Burton.

The Norweigan gave the Whites the lead after being played in by Tom Cairney. He picked his spot and fired past Jon McLaughlin.

Malone sealed all three points for Slavisa Jokanovic's team with 19 minutes remaining with a trademark run down the wing and then lashed the ball into the roof of the net.

The first half was one that will not be one seen on many highlight reels as neither McLaughlin nor Button were seriously tested. Fulham dominated the majority of play but failed to create a meaningful chance.

That all changed after the break as Sone Aluko twisted and turned through the Brewers' defence. He found Cairney who, in turn, laid off Johansen and he picked out the bottom corner to give Fulham the lead.

That forced Burton, who were looking to hit the visitors on the counter, to come out of their shells.

And, with 19 minutes left, Malone ran down the wing, as fast as lightning and frightening the Burton defence, before lashing his shot into the roof of the net.

Johansen nearly had a second in stoppage time but his free kick was easily gathered by McLaughlin.
