Stoke City 4-1 Fulham

Fulham were relegated from the Premier League after they crashed to a heavy defeat at the Britannia Stadium.

Goals from Peter Odemwingie, Marko Arnautovic, Oussama Assaidi and Jonathan Walters earned the Potters a comfortable win to send the Cottagers heading towards the Championship, despite Kieran Richardson's consolation.

Their relegation was confirmed after Sunderland secured a shock win at Manchester United to leave the Whites stuck in the bottom three.

Dejected: A Fulham fan can't watch as the Cottagers crashed to another defeat

Felix Magath made three changes from the side that drew with Hull last weekend, with Dan Burn, Richardson and Darren Bent coming into the starting XI. Fit-again Kostas Mitroglou was among the subs.

Stoke dominated from the first whistle, with Assaidi blazing an early effort over.

Mahamadou Diarra then gave the ball straight to Stephen Ireland, but David Stockdale dived to his left to keep out the Irishman's long-range effort.

The Fulham keeper was called into action just before the half-hour mark when he denied Assaidi.

Opener: Peter Odemwingie gives Stoke the lead from close range

However, Stoke's pressure eventually paid off seven minutes before the break.

Ireland's shot was deflected onto the bar by John Heitinga, and Odemwingie was on hand to tap the ball in from a yard out.

Things almost got worse for the visitors moments later, but Stockdale dived full-stretch to claw away Arnautovic's curling effort.

The Yorkshireman was powerless to stop Stoke doubling their advantage 10 minutes after the break. Odemwingie broke clear down the left and crossed for the unmarked Arnautovic to slam the ball home from 12 yards.

Big blow: Marko Arnautovic scores the second to leave Fulham with a mountain to climb

With the Cottagers' survival hopes slipping away, Magath responded by throwing on Mitroglou for only his third appearance since his £11milion January move from Olympiakos.

However, Stoke continued to run riot and wrapped up victory 20 minutes from the end. Arnautovic was sent clear down the right, and his low cross was converted by Assaidi.

Fulham pulled one back late on through Richardson's strike, only for sub Walters to score for Stoke to restore the home side's three-goal cushion.

Fulham: Stockdale, Burn (Mitroglou 57), Heintinga, Hangeland, Riise, Sidwell, Diarra (Kasami 73), Parker, Richardson, Holtby (Dejagah 33), Bent.

Subs (not used): Joronen, Woodrow, Riether, Amorebieta.
