Fulham 0-1 Hull

Slavisa Jokanovic’s hunt for a Fulham win continues after the hosts fell to a late Abel Hernandez penalty at Craven Cottage.

The Whites had 67 per cent possession over the course of the contest, but without Ross McCormack failed to create enough to win the game against the Championship’s promotion chasers.

And their lack of incision was ultimately undone when Hull’s top scorer added a late penalty to his collection to leave the Cottagers without a win in four league matches.

After a slow start, Alexander Kacaniklic may have put the hosts in front after 10 minutes when skipper Scott Parker set up the Swedish winger with a quick free-kick, only to have his effort blocked.

Hull then sprang into life, and a quick counter-attack just moments later saw Uruguayan forward Hernandez race through on goal, only for Andy Lonergan to keep him at bay.

Kacaniklic came the closest to threatening the scoresheet when Tom Cairney’s toe-poke from close range was finger-tipped wide by Alan McGregor, only for former Brentford man Moses Odubajo to slam a clearance against the winger before he could score from six yards.

The hosts upped the tempo ten minutes into the second half when Cairney fired a free-kick from the right-hand edge of the box agonisingly wide of the post.

The same player then set up Parker, who was fractions away from a goal from a similar position when his inswinging effort hit the wrong side of the net.

Moments later, Maguire was in the thick of the action again as his unmarked header from the centre of the penalty area bounced wide of Lonergan’s far post.

But Hull took a late lead when Lasse Vigen Christensen brought down Odubajo in the box, and Hernandez tucked home the resulting penalty, despite Lonergan tipping the effort onto the post.

Jamie O’Hara forced a wonderful save from McGregor in injury time when his 25-yard free kick, destined for the top corner, was tipped behind by the Scot.

The Whites pressed but couldn’t break through, leaving Jokanovic scratching his head at the result.
