Brentford 0–2 Fulham

Fulham finally ended their recent derby woes against Brentford with a full deserved 2-0 win at Griffin Park this evening.

For the Whites, it was the kind of performance they have not come close to during their last four games against their west London neighbours, and built superbly on last week's demolition of Huddersfield - a turning point in their season surely having been reached.

They were dominant in every department, moving the ball around nicely and attacking with intent, and in truth, it could, and should, have been a more emphatic win.

For the Bees, the memories of last weekend's brilliant win at QPR were soon forgotten as they were dominated across the pitch by their other west London rivals pretty much from start to finish, save a few all too short spells.

Brentford did not muster a single shot, on target or otherwise, during a first half controlled by the visitors, and which could have seen Slovisa Jokanivic's men out of sight by half time.

Tom Cairney fired a warning shot hen an early effort just over from the edge of the area, while Sone Aluko's shot from a Chris Martin knock-down was deflected just wide of his own net by home defender Harlee Dean.

Lucas Piazon drew a fine save from Dan Bentley just before the offside flag went up, while it took a good save from Bentley to deny Stefan Johansen, and Aluko blazed wildly over following a slick Fulham move.

Aluko then smashed the ball against the bar following swift counter attack, but the offside flag was up again. However, the Fulham man didn't have to wait long for his moment, squeezing in the rebound after Bentley had saved his initial shot to break the deadlock 10 minutes before the interval.

It really should have been 2-0 on the stroke of half time when Piazon somehow fired wide from the rebound after Bentley saved from Cairney when it looked easier to score, and the second half started in a similar vein, with Aluko heading wide when well placed.

It took until just before the hour mark for Dean Smith's men to come to life, and both times their attacking spearhead was Josh Clarke, making a couple of very good runs from deep but not able to match them with a finish, David Button saving both times.

Former Bee Button also rescued his side following a spot of head tennis in the Fulham box, but the visitors were not finished and Aluko went close again before Scott Malone rampaged down the left and tested Bentley.

Brentford near close near the end with a real goal-mouth scramble from a corner brilliantly won by Scott Hogan off Button, but Fulham could have wrapped it up on the counter, Dean getting back well to deny Malone at full stretch.

Instead, it was left to Cairney to do the wrap-up job, applying the finishing touch after Brentford gave the ball away for the umpteenth time on the night and finishing smartly under Bentley from Martin's quality pass.
