Chelsea took their unbeaten home league run against Spurs to 25 years, and emphatically maintained their six-point Premier League cushion.

But for a brief spirited opening by the visitors, there was only ever one team in this match and Chelsea won at a canter.

Before the game was 20 minutes old, the Blues found the back of the net.

Branislav Ivanovic, venturing forward as is his want, played in Eden Hazard – who worked a one-two with Didier Drogba.

The Belgian then served up a great finish, to fire in off Hugo Lloris – reeling away past the away end with his hand to his ear in the aftermath.

Three minutes later it was Drogba's turn.

A car-crash clearance from Lloris found the scorer of the first goal, who passed to Oscar. The Brazilian found the Ivorian in the box, and he held off his man to score his fifth goal of the season. Not bad for a 36-year-old.

Happy? Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho

The old man picked up an injury towards the end of the half – but it wasn't enough to stop his reappearance after the break.

Which is more than could be said for Gary Cahill – who, having battled on following a fifth minute clash of heads with Jan Vertonghen, was replaced by Kurt Zouma.

Drogba was eventually replaced by Loic Remy, and the Frenchman managed to get his own name on the scoresheet.

With just over a quarter of an hour to play, Hazard chipped in from the left wing to find the new man tussling with Jan Vertonghen in the box.

The defender landed on his backside and, thanks to another great finish, the ball landed on the back of the net.

The only negative for Chelsea was a fifth yellow card of the season for Nemanja Matic, who will now sit out Saturday's trip to Newcastle.

Otherwise, Stamford Bridge loved every minute of this. And you have to expect, the way this team is playing, it will have plenty more enjoyable hours before the season ends.
