Chelsea's title-defence got off to a stuttering start, as they had Thibaut Courtois sent off, and drew 2-2 at home with Swansea.

The red card, which will sideline the keeper for next Sunday's trip to Manchester City, came in the 49th minute – as he lashed a boot which connected with the knee of an incoming Bafe Gomis.

Oscar had given them a 23rd minute lead, cancelled by Andre Ayew's equaliser seven minutes later.

But they immediately regained it via Willian's cross – deflected in his own net by Federico Fernandez.

Gomis's penalty, which followed the red to the Chelsea goalkeeper, saw the points shared.
