Second-half strikes from Sam Baldock and Glenn Murray meant Fulham returned to the capital empty handed but they had only themselves to blame.

Kevin McDonald had given the visitors the lead midway through the first-half, but the Cottagers were made to pay for missing a hat full of chances when they were on the front foot.

Anthony Knockaert’s brilliant disguise created the game’s first clear cut chance as he fed Murray on the Brighton right but his powerful drive was straight at the Fulham keeper who comfortably tipped over.

The Cottagers then enjoyed a fruitful 15 minutes starting with McDonald opening the scoring. His back-post header was correctly judged to have crossed the line by referee Keith Stroud after Brighton goalkeeper David Stockdale lost his footing as Stefan Johansen swung in a corner leaving McDonald to nod into a relatively unguarded net.

Moments later Floyd Ayite’s shot from 20 yards brought the best out of Stockdale who prevented the visitors from doubling their lead with a strong right hand.

Sone Aluko was then sent clear through on goal but his deflected shot went wide; much to the frustration of his two team mates who had pressed forward in support and had the goal at their mercy.

Scott Malone then had the Fulham ’s fourth clear chance within a quarter of an hour when some slick intricate play by the Whites forwards found the full-back unmarked in the Brighton box, but his powerful shot across Stockdale was palmed away.

The home side started the second half in the ascendancy and were soon rewarded when Baldock’s brilliant volley from the edge of the area nestled in the bottom corner. A Brighton free-kick was lofted into the area and only half cleared by the Fulham defence allowing Baldock to level the contest.

Fulham had the post to thank for keeping them level when Baldock had the ball knocked down to him no more than six yards from goal but his shot was stopped by a combination of goal frame and David Button.

Murray did complete the turnaround ten minutes from the end when Baldock turned provider. He crossed from the Brighton left and Murray was left in acres of space to steer the ball home for his eleventh league goal of the season.
