Brentford were held to a goalless draw by Wigan as the Latics defence kept the Bees at bay.

Dean Smith's side had the bulk of territory and possession but the performances of Stephen Warnock and Dan Burn were good enough to deny them.

The closest the home to scoring was when substitute Lewis Macleod's cross was dropped by goalkeeper Adam Bogdan but Jake Buxton was back to clear off the line with 10 minutes to go.

The Bees were the much stronger side in the opening exchanges but were unable to seriously test the Latics stopper with Lasse Vibe going close in the first half.

Brentford have been brutal going forward at Griffin Park in recent weeks but there was something missing against Wigan as the final ball lacked quality.

Wigan came into the game more in the second half and Nick Powell fired wide from 18 yards after Lasse Vibe went down with injury.

Brentford were unfortunate to not take the lead when John Egan's header was cleared off the line by Warnock, who made two crucial blocks soon after.

Dan Bentley was called into action in the dying seconds to make a good save from Powell's free kick to preserve a point that Brentford deserved.
