MK Dons 2–2 Brentford

They may have let a two goal lead slip in the last 10 minutes at MK Dons this afternoon, but for already promoted Brentford, it mattered little.

The Bees knew even before a ball had been kicked that the League One title would be a long shot after Wolves won at Leyton Orient in the day's early kick off.

Manager Mark Warburton made three changes from the side which sealed promotion against Preston, bringing in Nico Yennaris, Adam Forshaw and Will Grigg for Alan McCormack, George Saville and Marcello Trotta.

Forshaw gave home keeper Dave Martin an early test with a decent effort from just outside the area following some good early pressure from the Bees, while Grigg almost latched onto a through ball from Stuart Dallas, but was just beaten to it by Martin.

Just before the half hour mark, Izale McLeod went down in the box under a challenge from James Tarkowski, but ref Tim Robinson was having none of it, and soon after, the Dons striker tested but did not trouble Button from some distance out.

In between, a fine Dallas effort from the edge of the area following Alan Judge's corner forced Martin to push the ball out for Clayton Donaldson to tuck away the rebound, but the Brentford striker was flagged offside.

However, the Bees took the lead in first half injury time when Martin dropped a corner at the feet of Tarkowski, and the centre back almost apologetically poked the ball into an empty net from just a few yards out.

Into the second half, and McLeod again appealed for a penalty after this time being muscled off the ball by Tarkowski, but again, nothing was doing for the Dons frontman.

Instead, just before the hour mark, it was 2-0 to the Bees when Forshaw picked up the ball on the edge of the area and took his time to pick out the run of Donaldson, who found the perfect angle to slot his 18th goal of the season past Martin.

Perhaps the biggest cheer of the day though was reserved for the appearance as a substitute of club veteran Kevin O'Connor for his 498th Brentford appearance, keeping him on course to hit the magic 500 mark this season if he plays a part against Colchester and Stevenage too.

Soon after, Dallas fired into the side netting from a narrow angle after collecting the ball on the edge of the area, turning and speeding past the covering defenders, before Forshaw forced a fine saved from Martin.

With 10 minutes left, McLeod finally got his penalty at the third time of asking when, seemingly in an offside position after the Bees failed to clear a corner, he was brought down by Button, who just failed to get to Stephen Gleeson's penalty inside his right hand post.

Sub Mark Randall put a 30 yard belter just over, then forced Button into a fine diving save as the hosts pushed for an equaliser which finally arrived deep into stoppage time when an unmarked McLeod headed home a cross from the left.
