Wigan Athletic 0–0 Brentford

Honours finished even in the meeting of Brentford managers past and present at the DW Stadium this afternoon.

But current Bees boss Mark Warburton will probably go home happier than the man he replaced at Griffin Park, Uwe Rosler, following the goalless draw against Wigan.

The first chance fell to Moses Odubajo, who forced former England keeper Scott Carson into a save at his near post from the edge of the area, while at the other end, David Button saved well from Shaun Maloney as Wigan forced a chance against the run of play

Andre Gray latched onto a beautiful through ball from Jonathan Douglas soon after and chipped Carson, but his effort was just over, before the Bees striker fired wide from the edge of the six yard box when he probably had more time than he thought.

There was a scare for Brentford on the stroke of half time as Jake Bidwell made a timely block to prevent a certain goal following a cross from the left, but the half finished without a goal.

Ban: James Tarkowski's yellow card means he will miss Tuesday's game against Sheffield Wednesday

After the break, Tony Craig and James Tarkowski both went into the book following an unseemly scuffle with a Wigan player, the latter for dissent, meaning the former Oldham defender will miss Tuesday's game against Sheffield Wednesday for picking up a fifth yellow of the season.

Just after the hour mark, Tarkowski went down in the box appealing for a penalty, but none was given, and as he picked himself up, Alex Pritchard forced Carson into a flying save with a long range pile-driver.

Jota then cut in from the right hand edge if the area and forced Carson to earn his wage packet once more, before Douglas fired into the side netting from a superb byline pull-back on the volley from Alan Judge.

James McClean missed a good chance to win it with three minutes left when his bullet header from a cross from the right flew wide, but that proved to be the last real action as the game finished with honours even.
