Barnet 4-2 Crawley Town

Barnet netted four times to claim their first league win since the end of October against Crawley town.

A Bira Dembele brace put the hosts ahead before Crawley netted twice in quick succession through Mitch Hancox and James Smith to level the game with 10 minutes to play.

John Akinde scored his eighth goal of the season after earning and then calmly converting a penalty after drawing a unnecessary foul from Josh Yorwerth with his back to goal.

A comedy own goal put the game to bed for the Bees when a clearance smashed into Simon Walton and bounced into his own net.

Luke Gambin claimed two assists as the home side capitalised on their aerial threat from set pieces.

The first, a corner which Dembele expertly glanced across the goal before the defender rose above the rest to nod in his second from a Gambin free-kick at the start of the second half.

Mitch Hancox pulled one back for the visitors with 15 minutes to play as his miss-hit cross left on loan Manchester City keeper Ian Lawlor stranded on his line as the ball glided into the top corner.

Akinde had a golden opportunity to seal the game as the ball ricocheted around the Crawley keeper but the forward put the ball over the bar with the goal gaping.

The forward was almost made to rue his miss as Crawley immediately went down the other and James Smith levelled in spectacular fashion finding the corner of the net with a superbly struck volley.

Sloppy defending from the visitors gifted Akinde the chance to get on the score-sheet and win the games for the Bees as he calmly slotted home his penalty sending the keeper the wrong way.

A calamitous Simon Walton own goal put the result beyond doubt as a clearance fired into the defenders shins and spun into the empty Crawley net.
