Barnet 2-1 Grimsby Town

Jake Hyde was the hero who steered Barnet to a third win on the trot and sunk the Mariners.

Mauro Vilhete headed home after two minutes for Bees, but Craig Disley levelled the score 14 minutes after the interval. Hyde, though, was on hand to score another late and welcome winner.

There was one change to the Barnet side that beat Tamworth. Defender Jack Saville suffered a knee injury and loanee Valentin Gjokaj was handed his Bees debut.

Barnet couldn't have wished for a better start. Luisma Villa swung a corner into the box met by the head of Vilhete, who angled his header beyond the reach of Grimsby guardian James McKeown before latecomers had taken their seats.

This dream start was almost doubled minutes later. Keanu Marsh-Brown slid a sublime through ball into Dani Lopez who, clear of the defence, saw his shot deflected by McKeown onto the outside of the post.

Midway through the first-half, The Mariners almost grabbed an equaliser. A ball was whipped into the box, finding the head of Clayton McDonald, who had ventured forward from the back, but his header only found the roof of the net.

With half-time approaching, the visitors came extremely close to scoring. Scott Neilson burst into the box, with his curling effort deflecting off a couple of Barnet defenders just wide of Nick Jupp's post.

Eight minutes into the second-half, and the away side came mightily close from a corner. McDonald stooped highest to win the header, but his effort was cleared off the line by Andy Yiadom.

On 59 minutes, though, Grimsby clawed back an equaliser. A ball was crossed into the box, meeting the head of Disley, who looped his header beyond the reach of Jupp.

With 11 minutes to go, Bees retook the lead in one of their most important games this season. After a smart exchange with Curtis Weston, Yiadom hit a low ball into the box, which was duly converted from close-range by predatory poacher Hyde for his 10th goal of the season.

The victory moves Barnet up to sixth in the table, two points behind Salisbury City with a game in-hand.
