Frustrated Barnet had a goal chalked off as they went down 1-0 at home to Wycombe Wanderers in their final pre-season game this afternoon.

Sam Muggleton had the ball in the back of the net for the Bees early in the second half, but the referee had already blown for a Barnet free-kick and did not signal play on.

The closest Barnet otherwise came was when John Akinde screwed wide under pressure from Aaron Pierre after shrugging off a challenge on the edge of the area to put himself one on one with visiting keeper Matt Ingram.

Only a last ditch tackle from Daniel Rowe prevented Akinde putting striker partner Charlie MacDonald in the clear after Wycombe had taken a 66th-minute lead, when Peter Murphy beat Graham Stack from well outside the area to break the deadlock.

Wycombe had made all the early running too, and Aaron Pierre should have scored with at least one of two free headers at the back stick, nodding the first off target and failing to make any kind of right connection with the second.
