AFC Telford 2-2 Barnet

Barnet manager Martin Allen hailed the depth of his squad following Saturday's 2-2 draw with AFC Telford.

Martin watched his side come from 1-0 down to lead 2-1 in Shropshire before they were pegged back deep into stoppage time.

But the Bees boss was far from unhappy with a point and highlighted the performance of substitute Jon Nurse, who came on just after the interval to help rejuvenate his side following a lacklustre first half.

“The team that ends the game is just important as the team that starts the game," Allen told the club's website.

"If you check through the games that we have played all of the subs have come on and made a difference so I am very lucky in that way. Nursey was superb when he went on, I think it was him that lifted us all to be honest."

“To be fair to Telford, I thought they battled hard and were a strong team."

Telford opened the scoring with a penalty just before the break, after David Stephens was penalised for handball and Tony Gray duly slotted home from the spot beyond the grasp of Graham Stack.

The hosts had a goal ruled out shortly after half-time before Allen threw on Nurse, Adam Mekki and Sam Muggleton and those changes turned the game in the visitors' favour.

Lee Cook brought Barnet level with a scorching effort from 25 yards, netting his seventh goal of the season, and making him the league's top scorer.

And Elliot Johnson then put them in front minutes later, tucking away after a Nurse header was kept out by United keeper Jonathan Hedge.

However, the Bees looked nervy in the final stages and after Telford had another goal chalked off, Mike Phenix popped up in injury time to rescue a point for his side.
