AFC Wimbledon 1 Wycombe Wanderers 1

Saturday's turgid draw was a test of even the most devout fan's love of football - but Adebayo Azeez's stoppage-time leveller cancelled out Jason McCarthy's opener to stretch the Dons' unbeaten league run to five matches.

However, the beautiful game this certainly wasn't as a match played amid the first signs of winter provided little to warm the hearts of either set of fans.

Tetchy at times, fractured by too many lengthy stoppages and the goals aside neither keeper was seriously tested.

Jon Meades' early burst to the byline for an effort eventually blocked by Chairboys' keeper Matt Ingram promised better things that never came, two shots off target from Lyle Taylor the only others of note in the first half for the hosts.

At the other end, Luke O'Nien's promising run ended with weak shot straight at Ben Wilson, who later made a routine save from Gary Thompson's free-kick.

The deadlock was unexpectedly broken on 51 minutes when a ball into the home box caught on the wind resulting in a goalmouth scramble ended by McCarthy poking home from close range.

Dons' boss Neal Ardley response was a triple substitution with Azeez, Callum Kennedy and Tom Eliott thrown into the fray in search of a leveller.

A poor punch by Ingram gave Taylor one opening, but he shot weakly back into the grateful keeper's grasp, his frustrations later getting the better of him as he was yellow-carded for throwing an opponent to the floor.

Those frustrations grew as shouts for a penalty for a clumsy challenge on Elliott late on were waved away, but as we entered six minutes of stoppage time Azeez seized on another poor punch by Ingram to drive a shot into the far corner and snatch a point - neither side deserved more.
