Stefan Johansen's 45th minute equaliser wasn't enough to get any points from Villa Park as John Terry's first goal and Albert Adomah gave Aston Villa all three points.

Slavisa Jokanovic made two changes for the trip to Aston Villa, with Ryan Fredericks and Aboubakar Kamara returning to the line up after recovering from injury.

Fulham should've scored when Kamara got the ball on the break and pulled it back for Rui Fonte, but under pressure he didn't connect and Villa cleared their lines.

But it was the hosts who got ahead through no other than Terry, who rose highest to poke the ball home and get his first goal for Aston Villa after 22 minutes.

However, Fulham got the equaliser on the stroke of half time when Johansen stepped up to take a free kick on the edge of the box, curling it into the far corner and past Sam Johnstone.

Villa retook the lead only minutes into the second half when Jonathan Kodjia missed the ball in the area before it dropped to Adomah at the back stick, who slotted home.

Here's how we rated the side:

Button 7: Goal kicks early on continued to put unneeded pressure on his backline. Made a good save from Kodjia in the first half to deny the Villa man making it two. Made a brilliant save in the final five minutes to deny De Laet.

Fredericks 6: Involved in a real tussle with Adomah down the right and had the beating of Hutton for most of the game. Delivered a delightful cross for Ayite but Johnstone was level to the strike with a good save.

Kalas 6: Dealt with the physicality of the game well and showed composure in dealing with a fair few high balls from Villa. Gained confidence as the game went on but could do nothing with the second game.

Ream 6: Lost the ball in a dangerous area that could've been very costly early on but looked generally solid when Villa broke at him directly.

Sessegnon 7: Looked lively going forward early on but with little to shout about. Gave away a loose pass early in the second that could've so easily had resulted in a goal.

McDonald 7: Screened the back four well but found himself very busy in the first half. Was another solid showing from the Scotmans who tracked back well but it wasn't enough today.

Norwood 6: Was busy trying to get involved in the centre of the park and tried to string together some moves for the Whites but without much luck.

Johansen 6: Put away a wonderful free kick to get Fulham level after what had been a pretty poor first half showing. Didn't show his usual charge in the midfield and came off injured in the 71st minute for Cisse.

Fonte 4: Missed a glorious chance from yards out just before Villa took the lead and struggled to get involved in the game for the most part.

Ayite 7: Started to link up well with Fredericks down the right in the first half and caused Fulham's biggest threat in the first 45. Was still their main outlet in the second period and caused problems for the back four.

Kamara 5: Held the ball well and looked to set Fulham on their way for a counter during the first half. Found himself attacking Villa's backline but struggled to do anything once in the area.

Subs -

Cairney 6: Brought on for the final half hour to try stamp his mark on the game but struggled to do so with Villa's pressing game.

Cisse 5: Didn't have much of an impact on proceedings after coming on for Johansen.

Kebano N/A: Wasn't on the pitch long enough to have any influence on the tie.
