Brentford 4-0 Blackpool

Jon Toral scored a hat-trick as Brentford cruised to victory over a Blackpool side destined to drop into League One.

If football adopted the mercy rule this game would have been over by half-time as Jon Toral scored twice in three minutes to give the Bees a 2-0 lead before Charles Dunne was sent off for a two-footed challenge on Jota.

The second half was solely in Blackpool's half with David Button becoming practically a spectator.

Andre Gray made it 3-0 seven minutes into the second period at the second attempt but the Bees could have scored at will.

And the Spaniard took home the match ball in the final minute as he turned home at the far post.

Brentford had a chance to take an early lead after excellent work from stand-in left back Stuart Dallas down the flank. Toral produced a cross and it was headed behind.

The visitors had another warning after Alex Pritchard was involved in a delightful one-two but his ball just eluded Gray.

Blackpool briefly threatened as a cross flashed across the six yard box but, on 16 minutes, Brentford had the lead in fine style.

Jonathan Douglas evaded two defenders and laid the ball on a plate for Toral who made no mistake.

The Spaniard had his second three minutes later as Gray's cross drifted to the back post for the unmarked Arsenal loanee to head home.

He should have had a hat-trick soon after but turned his shot wide of the post.

Mission Improbable became Mission Impossible for Blackpool as Charles Dunne lunged in with two feet on Jota and was promptly shown the red card before Pritchard's effort hit the side netting.

Toral had another chance for a hat-trick in the second half as he missed a sitter before Toumani Diagouraga forced a save from the busy Joe Lewis.

Gray made it 3-0 seven minutes into the second half with his first effort parried by Lewis but the rebound went in off the post.

From then on Brentford laid siege onto the Blackpool goal and should, really, have made it a bigger margin of victory than it actually was.

But Toral completed his hat-trick in the dying moments from close range as Brentford's pressure paid off.
