AFC Wimbledon staged a first-half blitz to claim victory a first ever win over Oxford since reaching to the Football League with Darius Charles scoring in both ends.

Tom Elliott scored his second goal of the season on 20 minutes as he headed home from close range after United failed to clear a Dons corner.

Charles produced a stunning curling effort into the top corner with three minutes of the first-half remaining, although Oxford were unhappy as Dean Parrett's hefty challenge on the edge of the area went unpunished.

Dons had a 3-0 lead when Jake Reeves slipped Andy Barcham in to slot the ball home past Simon Eastwood in the Oxford goal in stoppage time.

Oxford rallied after half-time with Michael Appleton's words ringing in their ears and pulled a goal back soon after the break as Charles turned the ball into his own net.

United applied the pressure but the Dons defence, marshalled superbly by Paul Robinson and Charles, withstood the pressure to claim victory that would mark four years since Neal Ardley took over at Kingsmeadow.
