QPR will be hoping for better, anything better, than the last two Premier League openers.

Caned 4-0 by Bolton at home in 2011 that included away goals from Gary Cahill and Danny Gabbidon compounded by a red card for Clint Hill, it got even worse a season later.

A dreadful fumble by keeper Robert Green after only eight minutes as he let slip a Michu pea-roller was the slope that became an avalanche in a 5-0 humbling by Swansea.

Manager Mark Hughes never really recovered from the shock and was replaced by Harry Redknapp four months later.

Harry presided over a 2-1 first game last season as Rs came back from a first-minute Sheffield Wednesday goal to win 2-1 thanks to strikes from Nedum Onuoha and Andy Johnson.

But there again, Championship fixtures have presented no great problem over the last six years.

Rangers beat Barnsley 2-1 at home in 2008 - both goals from Fitz Hall. They did the Tykes again two year later 4-0, en route to the title, and in between played out a 1-1 home draw with Blackpool - Peter Ramage getting the equaliser.

Amazingly, all six games have been home fixtures.

Given the Bolton/Swansea debacles, maybe an away day somewhere handy like Arsenal or Chelsea might have more going for it?
