DIVISION ONE SOUTH AND WEST: AFC Hayes 1 Truro City 7
Four goals in 14 minutes heaped more misery on Joe Mitchell as AFC Hayes slumped to a 7-1 defeat at home to early league leaders Truro City.
The late deluge meant AFC have already shipped 20 goals in just five league games and yet it might have been so different had the home side taken its chances early on.
Goalkeeper Mark Phillpott gifted Truro a seventh minute lead with a poor pass from the back which allowed Stuart Yetton to find the net and Marcus Martin doubled the tally on 38 minutes with a long range effort.
However, Hayes had their opportunities as the skilful Dean Clark twice sent Trevor Charlery clear but each time the City keeper saved well.
Craig Totton and Mosiah Polidore also tested the visiting keeper and a cheeky chip from Clark only just cleared the bar.
And AFC should again have pulled a goal back soon after half-time when Jay Pereira found Totton in the penalty area but the midfielder failed from close range.
Instead the game was all over on the hour when Scott Walker's shot took a double deflection and went in off the post. Hayes cut the deficit to 3-1 with 15 minutes to go when Clark and Totton set up Pereira and he finished well, but the floodgates then opened as Jake Ash, Matt Bye, Martin and Yetton rained in four more goals.
