Hillingdon Borough finished their Ryman League Division One North match at East Thurrock United with only  EIGHT players - as they lost 4-0 on Tuesday evening.

Unavailabilities and injuries meant that Boro set off for Essex with only NINE players and then delays on the M25 meant that the match kicked off 30 minutes late at 8.15pm.

Things went from bad to worse for Boro as they trailed 4-0 at the interval despite a brave display by the nine men, which included manager Rob Burton being forced to play to bolster the numbers.

However, Boro put in a brave second half display and some tremendous defending saw them prevent East Thurrock adding to their goal tally.

Boro had the play the last 30 minutes with only eight men as one of their players picked up an injury while a brave Burton also had to limp through the second 45 minutes.

Burton said he was "really pleased" with his side's brave display and said they were applauded off the field at the end by the East Thurrock supporters.

"It was unbelievable, fantastic to keep a clean sheet in the second half," said Burton.
