Hayes & Yeading United moved into second spot in the Blue Square Conference South as Will Hendry's late goal gave them a share of the points in a 1-1 draw with St Albans City on Saturday at Clarence Park.

The deadlock was finally broken after 77 minutes when Paul Hakim, who had earlier hit the woodwork, scored from close range to put the Saints ahead.

However, United were not to be denied and they deservedly equalised on 86 minutes when Hendry struck home a free kick to secure a point which took H&Y above Maidenhead United on goal difference into second place.

Leaders Chelmsford City were beaten 3-2 at home by Bath City and United now trail the Essex side by five points with two matches in hand.
